I recently looked at my Goodreads account and apparently I read 12 books in January. I remember reading the books but don’t remember reading them that fast. I usually don’t read books that fast, I’m shocked that I did read all those books. Though then again a few were novella-like books, broken into parts, so I’d say I read about 7 or 8-ish books.
January will probably be my best reading month till I finished this semester of college in May because I know I won’t have a lot of reading time due to some crazy classes I am taking this semester. While I read the most in January, the books weren’t as great and I gave some low stars, the most I’ve ever done in a month and I am hoping next month is better. So keep on reading to see the books I read and the books I plan to read next month, spoiler alert it won’t be much.
Leather and Lace (Lonesome Point #1) by Jessie Evans and I gave this book 2 stars. Really I read this book for the cover and its New Adult genre but lately NA hasn’t been up to par as it usually is and I was let down when finished with this book. I’m debating on whether or not to finish this series yet, so we’ll see.
Grey (Fifty Shades #4) by E.L. James and I gave this book 2 stars. I read the Fifty Shades trilogy way back when it came out and I don’t know what I was thinking when I wanted to read Grey. I know I was intrigued by Christian, maybe that’s why? I don’t know but it was ok, I think I liked it more than the books in Ana’s POV which is weird.
Monster by Julia Sykes and I gave this book 3 stars. I believe this book in in two parts but I got a version with both parts in it. I liked this enough to finish it though as I said earlier, lately I have been getting bored with NA so it was an ok read.
Giving into You (#1) by L.M. Carr and I gave this book 3 stars. While this is the stereotypical NA romance I am more interested in this story and am surprised by where it is going, not the best but I’ll continue the series.
Oblivion (Lux 1.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout and I gave this books 3 stars. Oh I know all of you probably love the Lux series and it was a pretty good series but Daemon wasn’t really my favorite male lead character out there. He was a little too annoying in this book and I only picked it up to see how the story was from his POV.
The Ex Games trilogy (1-3) by J.S. Cooper and I gave the whole trilogy 2-3 stars. This was in 3 parts, all very short stories and I honestly could have gone without reading them. The first book kept me interested but as I read the next two my interest dwindled down and I skim read the last one.
The Masked Truth by Kelley Armstrong and I gave this 3 stars. I was shocked by how much I didn’t enjoy this book as I usually do with Kelley’s books. It was a good book but I felt like it was too unbelievable at times and predictable. I’m hoping this is the only one where I feel that way because I have a lot of other books by her on my TBR shelf to read.
Smash by B.B. Hamel and I gave this 3 stars. A good steamy story that kept me reading though I wished it wasn’t so what I’d expect from NA books. I see too much of the same romance from each NA book and the lead male characters are always the bad boy and they are underground fighters, the best out there, and the girl never met a guy like him good in bed blah blah blah.
Moon Called (Mercy Thompson #1) by Patricia Briggs and I gave this book 5 stars. Finally a good book to a crappy reading month. I had almost giving up reading for awhile when I stumbled upon this beauty. It had been a few months since I read some good Urban Fantasy/Paranormal books and this filled the need for it. I loved this book and its character and am currently trying to finish the series. I also wrote a review for this and if you haven’t checked it out, you should, you can see it here.
Alright now to the books I am hoping to get done this month. I plan to read about 4 or 5 books and most of them is to try and finish a series
1. Blood Bound(Mercy Thompson #2) by Patricia Briggs
2. Iron Kissed(Mercy Thompson #3) by Patricia Briggs
3. Bone Crossed(Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs
4. Priest (Priest #1) by Sierra Simone
5. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
The first four books have been out for awhile as opposed to Passenger which just released last month and I’m hoping I can get all of these and done and hopefully continue my reviews for the Mercy Thompson series! Thank you readers for reading and I will have another blog post up soon,
Over and out.
I read Grey last month too and I felt the same way. I just thought it was unnecessary to write almost 600 pages with only a few new passages.

It was long! I am curious if the author will decide to continue with where she is going with doing the books in Christian’s POV but I feel like personally I wouldn’t continue.

I think I’d read them more out of curiosity of how he see’s himself change but I’d like to see more backstory on him.
