BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Show n’ot Tell Publishing Presents:
NEW ADULT POST – APOCALYPTIC ROMANCE SERIES
In 2021 the world as we know it changed. The government collapsed, and the worst characteristics of human nature were shown as the world fell into ruins. Years after The Fall, the Tribes that were established are still at war. They still fight to keep what they pillaged, and most of all, they fight to keep their lies a secret. In a world filled with deception, nothing is as it seems. I was born into this world. Hunter Marks was molded into this world; a General— a person cold and harsh. A person meant to kill me. We were told to just believe. We were taught to never question. We’re supposed to be robots, and accept our roles in this altered society. Too bad Hunter and I don’t follow the rules. And we’re a hell of a lot stronger than they ever thought possible. They’ve been searching for the world’s deadliest weapon. It’s me. And I’m not following the leader any more.

I was ecstatic when I was contacted by the author about the blog tour and if I wanted to sign up for it. I had recently tagged along for the cover reveal/blitz and I couldn’t stand up the blog tour offer. I have only read one of Cassandra Giovanni’s books and that was Love Exactly and it was phenomenal, I had to jump on the train to read her new books.
In Between the Seasons was a roller coaster for me, there were scenes I absolutely swooned over the characters, scenes that confused me a bit and scenes I flat out didn’t understand. Its probably because I expected a book like Love Exactly and that’s my fault. This is a type of dystopian book, post apocalyptic, no contemporary whatsoever. Sure there may be romance but not over the top.
This book also surprised me, at first I couldn’t understand what was going on, how curious Kate was and why everyone was shooting down her genuine curiosity to everything. It was all more confusing when I met Hunter, or when Hunter ‘kidnapped’ Kate from her village. From what I know, Kate and Hunter are children of the two powerful leaders in the book who basically want to kill one another and take over whatever they can. Kate was strung up into their war and is wanted dead by Hunter’s father, though Hunter and Kate have begun an attraction with one another.
The romance was more than likely my favorite scenes of the book, Kate and Hunter constantly getting each other the blush over the little things, hand holding, eye catching, a little bit of skin showing (but not what you thing) and some intimate one on one conversations about their life. I won’t lie, at first I didn’t want to believe their attraction, I thought it was stiff and awkward – I didn’t like it at all. But that changed as the story went on, they became accustomed to one another and began to let their attraction grow and slowly it was something I had begun to enjoy reading about. The romance doesn’t touch her other book at all but I thought it was cute and it had me smiling at every scene.
I thought the whole premise was refreshing and a little different than other YA stuff, I also thought the premise was so bad ass, Kate no longer following the leader and becoming her own person, it made me want to read the book right then and there.
Although while I enjoyed the book I was left with questions which I know will later be revealed in the next installments but still I need answers! What exactly is the Fall? Where is the rest of the background for our characters? Oh and will there be a lot more Hunter and Kate?
This also does not have a cliffhanger, the story is left with a few answers, enough to keep us on our toes for the sequel.
Thank you for joining me and reading the review, buy your copy today and we can discuss! Thank you Cassandra for having me on the tour, I had a blast setting up review and reading the book (:
P.S. There is also a giveaway if you keep scrolling down!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Cassandra doesn’t remember a time when she wasn’t writing. In fact, the first time she was published was when she was seven years old and won a contest to be published in an American Girl Doll novel. Since then Cassandra has written more novels than she can count and put just as many in the circular bin. Her personal goal with her writing is to show the reader the character’s stories through their dialogue and actions instead of just telling the reader what is happening. Besides being a writer, Cassandra is a professional photographer known for her automotive, nature and architectural shots. She is happily married to the man of her dreams and they live in the rolling hills of New England their dogs, Bubski and Kanga.
